J.Crew Rivington car coat in Scottish wool

The car coat became popular in the 1950s and 1960s due to the growth of suburbs and the subsequent increase in time spent in cars. (The three-quarter length was more comfortable than longer jackets for driving.) This hardy Scottish wool comes from the legendary Harris Tweed mill (est. 1910). Handwoven in the Outer Hebrides islands, Harris Tweed is known for its rich character and is the only fabric in the world governed by an Act of Parliament.
